Why did I get involved?

When I tell friends about my involvement in TRP they often ask how did I get involved in it and why? That's because my background has no connection whatsoever with the community issues addressed by TRP.

My career of 20 years flying fighter jets and 19 years in business has, on the surface, little in common with TRP.

So how did I become involved?

Having completed the AQA training and done a small amount of mentoring before the contract ended, we had got to know each other.  I admired several aspects of the team's ethos: the professionalism, the passion for helping troubled young people and the single-minded determination to continue to do the right thing even when the council would not.  And having been very lucky to have successfully achieved my dream through the help of other people, I wanted to give something back. So when I was asked to join the leadership team of TRP, it was a no-brainer.

It's enormously rewarding and feels like I'm making a difference and I hope it ultimately has an impact on the community.

So, that's what I tell them and here we are today leading TRP together.

There it is.
